Well, I thought I would write a little preview for the fanficiton I plan on writing (eventually) for my TLM character, Joshua. This is just to give you an idea of what I have planned for this story.
I don't own TLM, Disney does. Joshua, however, is my creation and must be used with my permission!
Please read, comment on it, and enjoy!
This is also to cheer up my good friend mandibrandybuck.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The name's Joshua.
If you looked at me from a distance, you would think I'm a pretty regular guy, right? Well, that's where you'd be wrong.
My best friend is a mermaid...*former* mermaid, that is. And her daughter is my goddaughter who just found out a while ago that her mother was part fish and--
Whoa, hold up! I'm getting ahead of myself. I, uh, do that a lot; one of my faults according to my friends.
Let me start at the beginning.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
My parents were both fishermen, or is fisherpeople? Fisherpersons? Nevermind.
But I had parents. My father was warm, gregarious, and caring, and my mother was anything BUT delicate; she could gut and a ten-foot bass in five minutes flat!
Uh, sorry. You probably didn't need to hear that.
She was devoted to her husband and to me. One of my best memories was her tucking me into bed and singing a lullaby. Her voice was beautiful. Ahhh... Both parents gave me a great love and respect for the sea and all her mysteries.
When I was ten years old, both drowned in an accident, and I was left on my own to fend for myself. Luckily, I have a great friend named Mandi (author's note: Hee-hee!), who helped me get together enough money to buy a little shack of my own. For a while, Mandi was my good pal and we talked with each other about everything. She moved away after my twelfth birthday, but I still keep a correspondance with her.
After that, I kept to myself mostly, hanging out with my fishing/treasure-hunting buddies, going out every day in my little dinghy (a/n: that is a boat for all you landlubbers), and doing mundane things.
But then one day, when I went fishing, I had no idea that my life was going to change...
Forever.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ha-ha! That was just a little taste for you. This will probably be in the prologue. I accept all criticism.
And yes, Mandi, I put you in my story! Hope that makes you feel better!

'Tis my pleasure, honey. :D
Did it make you feel better?
I plan on having a scene where Joshua will write a letter to Mandi, telling her what happened.

Oh, good!
How do you like the idea of him acting like he's talking to someone?

Speaking in the first-person perspective? That's always an interesting way to tell a story.
